Shannon Miller

Shannon Miller is the most decorated gymnast (male or female) in U.S. history.   All together she has won 21 medals, making her the most successful American athlete.  She was the 1993 and 1994 World All-Around Champion, the 1995 Pan American Games all-around champion, the 1996 Olympic Gold medalist of the balance beans and part of the Magnificent 7 of the 1996 Olympic Atlantic Games.  Miller is considered to be one of the greatest gymnasts in America.

The Maginificent Seven

With the 2012, London Games coming up, I thought it would be nice to take a look back at the 1996 USA Team, who will forever be known as The Magnificent Seven (or Mag Seven).  The team consisted of both veterans and newcomers, with team captain Amanda Borden, Amy Chow, Dominique Dawes, Shannon Miller, Dominique Moceanu, Jaycie Phelps and Kerri Strug.  This group was considered America’s best chance to take home an Olympic gold as a team.
